According to a report from Globo.com, Lezcano has decided to reject offers from Brazilian clubs and will return to his home country. The report states that Lezcano had offers from clubs in Brazil's Série A and B, with the strongest coming from Fortaleza. His preference for returning to his home country was so he could have more chances to play in the World Cup.

Olimpia has formally submitted a loan proposal for 22-year-old Paraguayan midfielder Rúben Lezcano, with the offer running until the end of 2026 and including a purchase option. Lezcano is prioritizing a return to his home country to improve his chances of playing in the World Cup, which is why he is favouring the move despite also having had proposals from Brazil, including one from Fortaleza. The deal is not yet complete, as there are still pending issues between the Paraguayan club and the player, and no final agreement has been reached with Fluminense. Earlier in the window, Cerro Porteño made a strong attempt to sign him, and Libertad, the club where Lezcano started, also tried to secure his transfer. Lezcano joined Fluminense in February 2025 for a fee reported to be €4.8 million and has a contract until the end of 2029. In the current Campeonato Carioca season, he has scored one goal in two appearances, and his market value is €3.50m, according to Transfermarkt.
