Gimnasia Esgrima La Plata is searching for a goalkeeper. According to TYC, the club has targeted Rodrigo Rey of Independiente. The club has inquired about the Independiente captain and its management has communicated with Rey. The player has six months remaining on his contract and has not yet held renewal talks. However, the move is considered highly unlikely as Rey's high salary makes a deal very difficult for Gimnasia.

Goalkeeper Rodrigo Rey, 35, has his contract expiring in December. The Argentinian joined Independiente in January 2023, and his time at the club could come to an end because of the possibility that he will leave for no fee. According to Transfermarkt, his current market value is €1.20m.
