The primary reason for the talks was an adjustment of his salary, not the contract duration. VfB Stuttgart was surprised by the reports and still expects to reach a new agreement with Hendriks, according to BILD. It was planned that the new contract, including a significant salary increase, would be signed at the end of the transfer period. BILD reports that Hendriks would then earn over 2.5 million euros per year, plus a signing bonus, which would make him one of the top 10 earners at Stuttgart.

Ramon Hendriks is a realistic candidate to leave VfB. The club would like to extend Hendriks’ contract, which runs until 2028, but initial negotiations were broken off by the player’s side in recent days.
