According to Kicker, Philip Otele stated that it is a proud moment for him and that he did not have to be convinced to sign, because HSV and the Volksparkstadion are tremendous. Sport director Claus Costa described Otele as a winger with a high degree of creativity and goal threat. Costa also noted that he is currently in good playing rhythm.
