Newcastle United, Liverpool, and Manchester United were present at Vicarage Road on Thursday to watch Watford's 20-year-old Moroccan and French winger, Othmane Maamma. They were among approximately twelve clubs watching the player during Watford's 3-0 victory over Birmingham. It is understood that this was not the first instance of the three Premier League clubs scouting Maamma. Brighton, Brentford, and Sunderland have also been monitoring the player. Maamma has generated interest from clubs in Europe since being named the best player at the Under-20 World Cup, and he has 28 caps and 5 goals for Morocco's U20 team. Watford acquired Maamma from Montpellier for under £1 million in the summer. The club does not plan a January sale but could be convinced to sell for an offer that provides a significant profit. Maamma's contract is valid until June 2029, and he has 3 goals and 1 assist in 12 appearances in the current Championship season. His market value is estimated by Transfermarkt at €1.30m.
