Noah Atubolu of SC Freiburg is named as a potential external goalkeeper being considered by VfB Stuttgart, where a transfer for the 24-year-old German-Nigerian is described as not inexpensive. A report by 'Stuttgarter Nachrichten' states the club is experiencing internal division over its goalkeeping strategy. According to the report, one camp that includes head coach Sebastian Hoeneß, sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth, and sporting director Christian Gentner reportedly views it as too risky to start the season with their young homegrown keeper, Dennis Seimen. The report mentions Atubolu as an option in this context, alongside Finn Dahmen of FC Augsburg and Bernd Leno of FC Fulham. Conversely, the club's committees are said to be against signing a new number one in order not to block Seimen's long-term path. Atubolu joined Freiburg in July 2021 and has a contract until 2027. He has 22 caps for Germany's U21 team and a current Transfermarkt market value of €20.00m. He has also drawn interest from several clubs in Italy, including Inter, Juventus, and Milan.
