Palmeiras is interested in signing 28-year-old Brazilian defender Nino from Zenit, a move that was requested by coach Abel Ferreira. The club will compete with Fluminense and Cruzeiro for the player. However, the Saint Petersburg club considers Nino a starter and does not intend to facilitate an immediate transfer, preferring a departure in June. The Russian team will only begin negotiations for a proposal of 10 million euros. The former Fluminense player, who has one cap for Brazil, is receptive to returning to his home country.
