Carl Zeiss Jena, which is competing for the Regionalliga Nordost title, has signed 28-year-old German-English winger Nicolas Wähling. He joins after his contract with Canadian Premier League club Cavalry FC expired in the winter; he had won the championship in Canada with them in November 2024. Wähling was signed to replace Kay Seidemann, who departed for Chemie Leipzig. The player is familiar with the league, having won the same title with Energie Cottbus in the 2022/23 season, during which he scored against Jena twice. FCC coach Volkan Uluc described Wähling as a versatile offensive player who is strong in the air, can play on both wings, and has good crossing quality. His current market value is €150k, according to Transfermarkt.
