With his contract at the Chinese club Dalian nearing its end, 33-year-old Romanian attacking midfielder Nicolae Stanciu is reportedly considering a return to Romania, where U Cluj and FCSB are interested in him. During a press conference, FCSB's manager, Laurențiu Reghecampf, confirmed he wants Stanciu very much and described him as an extraordinary player with a great character. At the same event, Mihai Stoica, the chairman of FCSB's Board of Directors, stated that the issue is more than 75% resolved, explaining that the manager, Gigi, and he all want the transfer to happen. He also added that Denis Drăguș is trying to convince Stanciu, has offered to give up his shirt number, and that the club is making every effort to secure his return. Separately, Dan Petrescu believes a return to Romania would be beneficial for both Stanciu and the national team. Stanciu has 87 caps and 15 goals for Romania. His market value, according to Transfermarkt, is €1.80m. In the 2025/2026 Chinese Super League season, he made 23 appearances, scoring 9 goals and providing 4 assists.
