Miguel Merentiel Transfer from Boca Juniors to América

Two clubs from Mexico, América and Monterrey, are interested in signing 29-year-old Uruguayan forward Miguel Merentiel for 2026. Although no formal offers have been made, Boca is aware of the situation. It is reported that both interested clubs are facing issues with their foreign player quotas but might submit proposals in the near future. While Boca's general stance is that no player is non-transferable except for Leandro Paredes, the club's desire is to keep Merentiel. The player intends to stay to compete in the Copa Libertadores. Merentiel has two years left on his contract, which includes an $18 million release clause. While the club has maintained he would only be sold for that sum, an offer close to it would be seriously considered. Concurrently, the player's entourage has indicated he is seeking a significant financial improvement and a salary increase, while also wishing to continue at Boca. The forward, who has one cap for Uruguay, has a current market value of €6.50m according to Transfermarkt.
