The transfer is conditional on Reggiana first selling a midfielder to free up a spot, with Argentine Tobias Reinhart considered the most likely candidate to be sold, though there are currently no offers for him. If the transfer is completed, Castagnetti would leave Cesena after one season, and Cesena has reportedly identified Gerard Yepes of Empoli as a potential replacement.
