The 32-year-old Uruguayan forward Michael Santos will continue his career in the Primera División with Central Córdoba, known as 'Ferroviario', on a loan from Vélez until December 2026. The loan agreement involves no fee, an option to buy, and a recall clause midway through the term. Previously, Independiente had also pursued Santos, a player specifically requested by their manager Gustavo Quinteros, but Vélez considered their offer too low. Vélez was open to the forward's departure to reduce their wage bill, as he had lost his place in the team. Since Independiente's proposal did not meet their requirements, the club accepted the bid from Central Córdoba. Santos has been capped twice by Uruguay and joined Vélez in July 2024 on a contract that runs until the end of 2027. Vélez had signed him from Juárez in July 2024 for a reported fee of €1.8 million. His current market value, according to Transfermarkt, is €400k.
