Voetbal International reports that FC Köln was a contender to sign Mees de Wit for a long time, but the transfer did not happen.

1. FC Köln is considering Mees de Wit from AZ Alkmaar as an alternative if a move for Borna Sosa does not happen. The club is still looking to sign a left-back and has already held talks regarding the 28-year-old Dutch player. De Wit joined AZ in July 2022 from PEC Zwolle for a reported €2.3 million and his contract is valid until 2029. His current market value is estimated by Transfermarkt at €6.00m. He has also been linked with Aris and SV Werder Bremen. Reports from July 2026 mentioned a market value of approximately €6 million in relation to interest from Aris, while an earlier report from May 2026 cited a €4.5 million valuation.
