Max O'Leary Transfer from Bristol City to West Bromwich Albion
Max O'Leary will sign a short-term, six-month deal at The Hawthorns to compete for a place as Albion's number one under Eric Ramsay. O'Leary is set to join ahead of the match at Derby County on Friday night.
West Brom have moved to sign Bristol City's Max O'Leary to solve their goalkeeping problems, as Eric Ramsay's team has conceded eight goals in his opening two matches. According to Lyall Thomas of Sky Sports, the goalkeeper is expected to join West Brom, who appear to have secured his signing ahead of other interested clubs including QPR, Blackburn Rovers, and Derby County. O'Leary, 29, is no longer the preferred choice at Ashton Gate under Gerhard Struber, where Manchester United loanee Radek Vitek has become the primary goalkeeper. The Ireland international, who has one cap, also holds English nationality and was first-choice for the previous three seasons, but has made just five league appearances this season. With only six months left on his contract, the long-serving Bristol City player is available for a lower fee this January and is likely to be given an immediate opportunity to establish himself at West Brom. His current Transfermarkt market value is €2.50m.
