According to Nicolo Schira, Bologna are competing to sign River Plate’s midfielder Matias Galarza, who has a release clause of €6M.

Tuttomercato reports that River Plate is willing to sell Matias Galarza, whom Bologna is targeting, for about 5 million dollars. River Plate owns 70% of the player's rights, while the remaining 30% are held by funds and agents. Bologna is trying to determine if the purchase price will increase due to the ownership of the remaining portion of the player's rights.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Bologna asked for information about Matias Galarza after his performances at the World Cup.

Bologna has recently become one of the clubs following River Plate midfielder Matías Galarza Fonda, born in 2002, after he played in an excellent World Cup with the Paraguay national team. Bologna has made initial inquiries to understand the economic conditions for a potential operation. The player is also reportedly being followed by Racing Strasbourg, Getafe, Sporting CP, and a club from the Saudi Pro League. The Paraguayan international, who has 19 caps and 4 goals for his country, joined River Plate in July 2025 and is under contract until the end of 2028. Transfermarkt estimates his current market value to be €3.00m.
