DAC manager Robert Klauß stated that a concrete and serious offer for 22-year-old Hungarian defensive midfielder Máté Tuboly arrived from English second-tier club Portsmouth at the beginning of July. According to Klauß, the player's agent, who had indicated in March that offers might arrive, asked the club to wait for further opportunities after the bid was made. Portsmouth eventually withdrew their offer. Other clubs including Watford, Swansea, and Bundesliga side Schalke were reportedly interested in the Hungary under-21 international, but Portsmouth's approach was the only concrete one DAC received. The manager also explained that because the transfer failed, Tuboly was left out of the Conference League squad for professional reasons, citing intense midfield competition and a limit on foreign players. Tuboly joined DAC on 01/07/2024, and his contract is valid until 30/06/2028. His market value is estimated by Transfermarkt at €1.50m.
