Bayer Leverkusen showed interest in German international Malick Thiaw during the summer as part of their search for defensive players. It was reported that the 25-year-old Newcastle United centre-back was on their list. He ultimately turned down the approach from the German club. Thiaw joined Newcastle in August 2025, his contract is valid until June 2029, and his current market value is €50.00m. Manchester United and Liverpool have also been linked with the defender.
