Fenerbahce is prepared to pay 25 million Euros for Malick Fofana, according to Fanatik. Lyon is requesting 30 million Euros, but it is considered likely that the price will be negotiated to Fenerbahce's preferred level. Additionally, Lyon is starting initiatives for Werder Bremen's Samuel Mbangula to replace Fofana.

Fenerbahçe is pursuing Malick Fofana and is expected to make an official offer with a package worth 25 million Euro, including bonuses. Lyon has informed the player's management company that they desire a minimum of 30 million Euro for the sale of Fofana. The French club has a need to generate 50 million Euro from player sales. After the Le Havre match, Lyon's coach Fonseca stated that although Malick was with them at that time, the club was required to sell players and his departure was probable. After the Samsunspor match, Fenerbahçe coach İsmail Kartal indicated that transfers could occur at any time and that the club might make a transfer for a player under the age of 23 if possible.

After being unsuccessful in their efforts to sign Marcus Rashford, Fenerbahçe has reportedly turned its attention to under-23 players for the left-wing position, and Malick Fofana is their top target. The 21-year-old Belgian, who also holds Guinean citizenship, is considered one of Lyon's most important players, but the French club is now facing economic difficulties after being eliminated from the Champions League by Fenerbahçe. Lyon must generate at least €25 million from sales in the short term and €50 million over the season. Fenerbahçe is understood to be preparing an offer for Fofana, who has also attracted interest from Roma and Hull. Fofana, who has five caps and one goal for Belgium, joined Lyon in January 2024 from KAA Gent for a reported €17 million and his current contract runs until 2028. Recent reports from August 2026 indicate Lyon's asking price is between €40 million and over €50 million, with Hull City reportedly submitting a €35 million offer and AS Roma linked with bids up to €40 million. His current Transfermarkt market value is €30.00m.
