Turkish sources state that Makana Baku is nearing a transfer to Kocaelispor. A report in Turkey states that Makana Baku signed a pre-contract with the Turkish club. According to the plan, Baku will arrive in Izmir in the first days of the following week and will undergo detailed medical examinations. If no problems are found, he will sign the contract with Kocaelispor.

Makana Baku, a 28-year-old winger, has reached an agreement with Kocaelispor and signed a pre-contract for a two-year deal. He is departing Atromitos as a free agent. Atromitos had reportedly submitted a renewal offer to the German-Congolese attacking midfielder. However, Baku sought a contract that was significantly higher than what he could secure in Greece, following a very strong season. Kocaelispor finished 10th in the top division this year. The former Germany U21 international recorded 10 goals and 7 assists in 35 league and play-out appearances for Atromitos during the 2025/2026 campaign. Transfermarkt estimates his current market value to be €800k. Levadiakos was also reportedly interested in the player.
