Le Havre is expected to finalize the signing of French midfielder Lucas Gourna-Douath from Salzburg on a straight loan in the coming hours. The 22-year-old was also being pursued by Valencia and Rangers. After a difficult first half of the season affected by injuries that limited him to five matches, Gourna-Douath wanted to find more playing time. Although he had spoken with Valencia's coach, Carlos Corberan, and the Spanish club made a late attempt to sign him, Le Havre's manager, Didier Digard, convinced the player. Digard, who has known the midfielder for years, used the success of last winter's transfers and promised him a significant role. The opportunity to return to the French league was an important factor in the player's decision, and he has already arrived in Le Havre to finalize the transfer. Gourna-Douath, who has made three appearances for the France U21 team, joined Salzburg in July 2022 for a reported fee of €13M and has a contract with the Austrian club until mid-2027.
