Luca Szimionaș, a 19-year-old Romanian central midfielder who was a target for CFR Cluj this summer, has signed for their rivals U Cluj from Hellas Verona on a four-year contract. Another Romanian club, FCSB, had also shown interest in the midfielder during the winter, but according to MM Stoica, the club was hesitant to pursue a permanent transfer due to the significant fee Verona was expected to demand for a player without senior team experience, and instead explored a potential loan with an option to buy. Szimionaș has six caps for the Romania U21 national team, and according to Transfermarkt, his current market value is €250k.
