Louis Munteanu Transfer from CFR Cluj to Rennes

Journalist Decebal Rădulescu claims that Rennes was willing to immediately pay 10 million euros for the striker's transfer, an offer directly rejected by Ioan Varga. Rădulescu said that Louis Munteanu had two serious offers, one from Rennes for 10 million euros, and that this offer did exist.

Louis Munteanu was heavily linked with Ligue 1 side Rennes in the summer transfer window. CFR Cluj owner Ioan Varga blocked the deadline day exit after talks with Munteanu, convincing him to stay. Munteanu went AWOL from training in an attempt to force a move.

Stade Rennes was interested in signing Louis Munteanu and reportedly made an offer of 12 million euros. However, the offer was rejected by Ioan Varga, the owner of CFR Cluj. The transfer was suggested to be a record for the Romanian league, with Varga mentioning a potential transfer fee of 18 million euros.

Louis Munteanu, a Romanian striker and the top scorer from the previous season, has attracted interest from several clubs during this transfer window, notably Rennes and Celtic. Nelutu Varga stated that a record sum for Romanian football, amounting to 18 million euros, is being offered in exchange for Munteanu. Rennes' interest in Munteanu might still be active, especially as the club anticipates losing their forward Arnaud Kalimuendo to Nottingham Forest for 30 million euros. This potential transfer could bring Munteanu closer to a move to France, although it remains uncertain whether the club's management has targeted another player.
