According to Tuttomercato, Venezia has lined up Lion Lauberbach of Mechelen as an alternative option if Ambrosino's transfer is further delayed.

KV Mechelen rejected a 2 million euro bid from Venezia for Lion Lauberbach. The 27-year-old German striker has scored seven times this season. It is reported that Lauberbach is interested in a move to the Italian second-division club. While Mechelen would prefer to keep the player, it is said they are willing to cooperate on a transfer for the right price. It is also reported that other clubs are monitoring Lauberbach, including English second-division side Preston and Danish top club Brøndby. Lauberbach was previously linked with Mainz before the winter break. He joined Mechelen in July 2023, has a contract until June 2027, and a current Transfermarkt market value of €1.70m.
