According to TYC, 31-year-old Argentinian right back Leonardo Godoy is very close to leaving Independiente to join Argentinos Juniors on an 18-month loan. The former Estudiantes and Talleres player is seeking a move away from Avellaneda to secure more playing time than he had under manager Gustavo Quinteros. In the first half of the year, Godoy lost his starting position to the Colombian Santiago Arias, who consistently performed well and secured the position on the right flank. If the transfer to 'el Bicho de la Paternal' is completed, Independiente intends to sign a replacement, and the club is also prioritizing the recruitment of a central defender and a left back in the current transfer market. Godoy joined Independiente in July 2025 and made 9 appearances in the 2025/2026 Torneo Apertura. His contract with the club runs until the end of 2028, and his current market value is €1.20m, according to Transfermarkt.
