Leon King's contract at Rangers has been allowed to expire. Speaking to the Daily Record on 20 May, Leon King said he views his departure as more of a temporary farewell than a goodbye. He feels he could play in the Rangers squad at present and has confidence in his ability, thinking he could be a starter most weeks. King added that the club are pursuing a different direction, which is their decision that he accepts, and he will go elsewhere to play.

According to Read Rangers, Leon King will be permitted to leave Ibrox permanently this summer. King is currently on loan at Ayr United and has apparently not convinced the decision makers at Ibrox to extend his stay. His contract expires in the summer, and the Light Blues do not want him to remain at the club.

Leon King is exploring options after being dropped from the first-team picture under manager Russell Martin.
