Arouca announced that 19-year-old English-Israeli right-back Leo Shahar has joined on loan from Newcastle until the end of the season, with the deal confirmed hours before the transfer market closed. Shahar, who has made an appearance in the UEFA Champions League, will compete with captain Tiago Esgaio for the position. The club was seeking a right-sided defender. Shahar has been capped seven times by the England U19 national team.
