Preston North End have completed the signing of French midfielder Leo Leroy from Basel ahead of their Championship opener at Wanderers. The 26-year-old has signed a three-year deal at Deepdale and joins for an undisclosed fee. Leroy, who joined Basel in July 2024, has been capped twice by France at U19 level and has a current Transfermarkt market value of €2.50m. Leo Leroy told the club site that he is very proud to join the club and will give everything for this team and for the fans. Manager Paul Heckingbottom said they are really happy to bring Léo in. He stated that Leroy is a good technical player with great experience, who is comfortable getting on the ball in deeper positions but also likes to join attacks. Heckingbottom added that Leroy has a really good pedigree and a calm personality, and that they want to value those qualities and ensure people can see what he is, because he has been impressed by what he has seen from him.
