Kang-in Lee Transfer from Paris Saint Germain to Arsenal
Kang-In Lee, currently at PSG, is announced to be departing. He expressed uncertainty about his future during a post-match press conference after playing for South Korea. Arsenal is one of the clubs showing interest in him.
PSG is open to selling Kang-In Lee and is looking to capitalize on their new status as European champions to negotiate a high price. Arsenal, along with other clubs in England, Liga, and Saudi Arabia, have shown interest.
Arsenal is planning to pursue Kang-in Lee during the upcoming summer transfer window, following an unsuccessful attempt to sign him in January, according to reports from British media. The South Korean midfielder is reportedly unhappy with his current amount of playing time at PSG, even though he has managed to score six goals and provide six assists in the domestic league this season. Arsenal is in search of a midfielder as both Jorginho and Thomas Partey are expected to depart from the Emirates this summer upon the expiration of their contracts. Lee transferred to PSG from Mallorca in the summer of 2023 for a fee of 22 million euros, with his contract set to last until June 2028. Nevertheless, PSG is reportedly open to letting him leave for a fee of 20 million euros.
Kang-In Lee, a South Korean forward playing for Paris Saint-Germain, is reportedly on Arsenal's radar. Despite having started 18 matches in Ligue 1 this season, he continues to be used as a rotation player under coach Luis Enrique, leading to his frustration with the limited playing time. Sources indicate that he is open to the idea of leaving PSG this summer. Arsenal's newly appointed sporting director, Andrea Berta, has long admired Lee, having previously attempted to sign him for Atlético de Madrid in 2023. Now based in London, Berta might persuade Mikel Arteta to find a place for Lee within the team. PSG is keen on recovering their 22 million euro investment and is not willing to sell for less than 20 million euros. According to L'Équipe, Lee is included on PSG's list of players available for transfer. Should the move go through, he could potentially join Arsenal for their Asian tour in Singapore and Hong Kong this summer.
Kang-in Lee, who is currently under contract with Paris Saint-Germain until 2028, is reportedly open to seeking a new challenge. While PSG is not actively trying to sell him due to his marketing value, it is understood they would require at least double the 22 million euros they initially paid for him. Arsenal has shown interest in Lee but has yet to make a formal offer. It is reported that PSG is not keen on a loan with an option to buy, a scenario that Arsenal might have been willing to negotiate. Lee, having become a crucial asset for PSG both on and off the field, was noted to be the second highest shirt seller for PSG last year, with 70% of the jerseys in their Seoul store featuring his name. In addition to his marketing appeal, his on-field performance has also seen improvement, achieving 6 goals and 2 assists this season, which is an enhancement over his past record. PSG reportedly values him highly, appreciating both his sporting contributions and his essential role in their merchandising strategy across Asia.
