Lyon has shown an interest in acquiring 20-year-old English midfielder Kobbie Mainoo from Manchester United. Nevertheless, Manchester United is unwilling to let Mainoo depart, not even on a loan basis. Although Mainoo has expressed a wish to leave temporarily to secure more playing time, Manchester United has decisively chosen to retain him. The midfielder has found himself lower in the selection hierarchy under manager Ruben Amorim, and despite interest from various clubs, including Lyon, United is steadfast in their decision, particularly after recent injuries to key players. Mainoo's aspiration to play elsewhere to further his development has been acknowledged, yet United's stance remains firm: he will not be permitted to leave, even on a temporary basis, before the transfer window closes.
