Atlético-MG has turned down a loan proposal with an option to buy from Al Wahda for 30-year-old Brazilian winger Júnior Santos, as reported by ESPN and Rádio 98FM. The club is interested solely in a permanent transfer rather than a loan arrangement. The transfer window in the UAE is set to close in October. Júnior Santos, who joined Atlético-MG in January for a fee of approximately US$ 8 million (R$ 48 million) for full ownership of his rights, has not met expectations due to injuries, having scored only two goals and provided one assist in 26 matches. Before joining Atlético-MG, he enjoyed a successful period with Botafogo, where he contributed significantly to their victories in the Brasileiro and the CONMEBOL Libertadores, with 28 goals and nine assists in 115 appearances. Júnior Santos's contract with Atlético-MG extends until December 2028, and his market value is estimated at €5 million by Transfermarkt.
