Sunderland are in discussions with Borussia Monchengladbach about Swiss goalkeeper Jonas Omlin, with this interest emerging as the club's current keeper, Anthony Patterson, is linked with other teams. It is reported that Sunderland are aiming to secure the 32-year-old on a loan deal for the rest of the season. It is thought that Omlin would arrive to take over Patterson's role as backup. Omlin currently holds a backup position at his German club. Omlin, a full international for Switzerland with four caps, joined Gladbach in January 2023 and is under contract until June 2027. According to Transfermarkt, his current market value is €1.50m. Borussia Mönchengladbach reportedly paid €9.0 million for the player in January 2023. Leicester City were linked with a loan offer for him in August 2025.
