Brentford was willing to pay 40 million EUR for Johan Bakayoko, but he wanted to play for trophies in Europe.

Bakayoko previously turned down a transfer to Brentford as he is assured of playing time and Champions League football at PSV.

Last year, Brentford showed interest in Bakayoko, but he stated he is not interested in joining an English mid-tier club.
