According to Team Talk, Joel Piroe's potential move from Leeds to West Ham is progressing, with growing optimism that a transfer will be completed. The report states that Leeds has been open to Piroe’s exit since before the January window and was willing to let him leave then. While the player made it clear to Daniel Farke he wanted to stay during the winter window, his agent has now indicated that an exit is in the best interests of all parties. The Hammers’ initial offer, understood to be a package worth up to £12m, has been rejected. Talks between the clubs are continuing. Leeds’ £16m valuation has not dissuaded West Ham from making contact. The report adds that Leeds is prepared to negotiate a loan deal if it includes an obligation for a permanent move next summer, but the club would first need to trigger the one-year option on Piroe’s contract.

Widespread reports in the winter transfer window linked Joel Piroe with several EFL Championship clubs, including Leicester City. However, Piroe was not interested in leaving Leeds United in the middle of the 2025/26 season because he wanted to compete for a position in Daniel Farke’s team. According to Sky Sports journalists Anthony Joseph and Zinny Boswell, discussions for West Ham to sign Troy Parrott have stalled, which has led the club to instead attempt to sign Piroe. The journalists also suggest that West Ham and Leeds United have been in contact regarding a potential deal for Piroe for the duration of the summer transfer window. The Irons have expressed interest in a loan deal that includes a purchase obligation clause, and a report claims that while Leeds United's preference is a permanent transfer, a loan-to-buy arrangement is also acceptable.
