Joël Piroe Transfer from Leeds United to Ipswich Town
According to EADT and Ipswich Star, Ipswich Town could move for Joël Piroe before the transfer deadline at 7pm on Monday. The same source reports that Ipswich enquired about his availability earlier in the window, along with several other clubs, but that no offer has been made. In contrast, Dutch media outlet Voetbal International has suggested that Ipswich have bid for the 26-year-old and that Piroe does not want the move. The player is now in the final 18 months of his contract at Elland Road.
Ipswich Town have submitted an offer to Leeds United for a permanent transfer of the 26-year-old Dutch centre-forward Joël Piroe. The deal has not progressed, which is attributed to Piroe's personal preferences. In comments to Voetbal International earlier this month, Piroe admitted he was not looking to leave Leeds United at this time and made it clear he would only depart for an offer he could not refuse. Piroe stated that a move was not being considered at that moment. He added that while an opportunity one cannot refuse might arise, he was personally not enthusiastic about moving that winter. He explained this was because the season is relatively short, which allows little time to adapt elsewhere, a process he thought would be very difficult. Piroe does not currently consider the Championship to be a next step for him. Ipswich Town's bid has not had an immediate impact. Piroe's contract with Leeds is valid until June 2027, and Transfermarkt currently values him at €15.00m. Other clubs, such as Crystal Palace and Rangers, have also been linked with Piroe. Leeds acquired Piroe from Swansea City in August 2023 for a reported fee of €14 million. Separate reports from January 2026 estimated his value at approximately £13 million.
