Goalkeeper Joe Wildsmith has signed for Wycombe Wanderers on a free transfer. The club is currently 14th in League One. The 30-year-old English player had been without a club since his departure from West Brom. He joins a Wycombe team that is currently without a manager, as Michael Duff was dismissed earlier this month. Wildsmith has previously won promotion from League One with Derby County and was on loan at Middlesbrough last season. He has already begun training with his new team. The club's director of football strategy and data intelligence, Tom Stockwell, stated that the club was happy to welcome a player with Wildsmith's experience in the Championship and League One. Stockwell also stated that due to Conor Hazard's recurring international duties, signing a goalkeeper of Wildsmith's quality provides the required squad depth for the season. Wildsmith is fit and available for selection for the weekend match against Reading. The goalkeeper has received caps for England at the U21 level. According to Transfermarkt, he has a current market value of €300k. He had also been linked with Middlesbrough and Sheffield Wednesday.
