A few months ago, 37-year-old German defender Jérôme Boateng was on the verge of a return to FC Bayern. Due to personnel concerns in their defense, the record champions had him train with the team on a trial basis under coach Thomas Tuchel. The prospect of his return, however, was met with outrage from many fans on social media, and protest actions were even planned. In the end, after considering all aspects, FC Bayern announced their decision not to sign Boateng. The free agent has been linked with Wisła Kraków.
