Jean-Mattéo Bahoya Transfer from Eintracht Frankfurt to Liverpool

Jean-Matteo Bahoya is a player of interest to Liverpool and will be available to sign in January. Liverpool are very interested in Bahoya, as Arne Slot is eager for the club to add more pace to their forward line. Frankfurt have changed to using wing-backs, a system that does not suit the winger. Last season, Bahoya was the first player in Bundesliga history to exceed a speed of 37km/h. Liverpool will face competition from Arsenal to sign Bahoya. According to Anfield Watch, Bahoya could be signed for a low price; however, it is understood Frankfurt will demand at least €60m before selling.

According to a report from Anfield Watch, Eintracht Frankfurt's 20-year-old winger Jean-Matteo Bahoya has been shortlisted by Liverpool as the club considers signing a new left-winger to compete with Cody Gakpo. Liverpool scouts have reportedly been impressed by the player, who is said to have initially attracted their attention last season with his link-up play with Hugo Ekitike and his notable speed. The report from Anfield Watch highlights that Bahoya's greatest asset is his pace, mentioning he was clocked at 37.16 km/h in a game against Bochum. Bahoya is seen as a suitable profile as Liverpool is looking to add more speed to their squad. The report also suggests that the positive relationship the Reds have with Frankfurt, following the summer signing of Ekitike, could be beneficial in negotiations. However, Anfield Watch also states that the Bundesliga club is keen to retain Bahoya and is trying to sign him to a new contract with better terms. If a new deal is not agreed, the report suggests Liverpool could potentially sign him for a low price. The French U21 international has three goals and an assist in 12 appearances this season. He joined Frankfurt in January 2024, has a market value of €25.00m according to Transfermarkt, and has also been linked with Arsenal.
