According to Globo.com, Mirassol has reached an agreement to sign the 22-year-old Brazilian defensive midfielder Japa from Cruzeiro on loan. The loan agreement is for the remainder of the season because the player was not receiving sufficient opportunities in Artur Jorge’s team. The purpose of the transfer is to give him more playing time, as he has not secured a regular position in the first team following his promotion from the youth academy in 2023. Coritiba also had an interest in the player, but discussions did not advance. Japa's contract with Cruzeiro is valid until 2030, and he will now compete for the São Paulo side in the Libertadores, Copa do Brasil, and Brasileirão. The central midfielder has a current market value of €1.00m, according to Transfermarkt. During the 2025/2026 season, he has made 10 domestic league appearances and scored two goals for Cruzeiro.
