Sport FM reports that the possibility of acquiring new players is conditional on receiving an advantageous transfer offer for James Penrice.

Turkish clubs Besiktas and Basaksehir are showing interest in the 27-year-old Scottish left-back, who was Hearts’ player of the year last season. This season, he has made 12 appearances for AEK Athens in the Super League 1, providing 4 assists. He joined the Greek club in July 2025 for a fee reported to be €2.3 million, and his contract with the club runs until June 2028. It is reported that AEK Athens rejected a bid from Rangers in January 2026 valued at approximately €3.5 million. Transfermarkt estimates his current market value to be €2.50m.
