Everton manager David Moyes has stated that reports suggesting Chelsea made an approach for midfielder James Garner on deadline day are untrue.

According to transfer insider El Bobble, Everton rejected a €75.8 million (£65m) bid from Chelsea for James Garner on deadline day, with the offer arriving late on Tuesday evening. Garner is believed to be happy at the club after signing a new contract in January that runs until 2030.

Team Talk reports that Chelsea is interested in acquiring a new midfielder. The report states that as part of their efforts to find a replacement for Enzo Fernandez, Chelsea made an inquiry to Everton about James Garner before advancing their pursuit of Monaco's Lamine Camara. Garner is a 25-year-old English midfielder who joined Everton in September 2022 and his contract runs until 2030. He has two caps for England, and his current market value is €45.00m, according to Transfermarkt. Aston Villa has also been linked with him.
