Elfsborg have confirmed the sale of forward Jalal Abdullai to the Norwegian club Molde. The confirmation followed a report from Sportbladet one day prior, which stated the deal was for approximately 40 million kronor. Elfsborg's club chief, Stefan Andreasson, stated that the transfer is their largest deal so far. Andreasson added that while they normally do not sell their best players or biggest talents within Scandinavia, the economic offer from Molde led them to make an exception in this case.

Molde had previously made a bid for Jalal Abdullai, offering a purchase option of around 30 million kronor in a deal that would have made the striker one of Molde's best-paid players. At that time, the Borås club declined the sale. Abdullai's contract with IF Elfsborg was set to expire on December 31, 2028. His current market value is estimated by Transfermarkt to be €2.00m. Several other clubs, including Preston North End, Middlesbrough, and FC Copenhagen, had also been linked with the player.
