Ibrahim Diabaté Transfer from GAIS to Al Ahly
Al Ahly and GAIS have reached a definitive agreement for the transfer of Ivorian forward Ibrahim Yalatif Diabaté. According to sources from Africafoot, the transfer fee is 1.6 million dollars, to be paid in two installments. The agreement was reached after GAIS increased its financial demands in recent days, which had disrupted discussions. Africafoot also reports that the Egyptian club has requested an additional delay before the signing due to an unresolved issue with Moroccan defender Achraf Dari. The situation with Achraf Dari is preventing Al Ahly from freeing a spot on the foreign players list, which is a necessary condition for Diabaté's registration. The Swedish club GAIS has set the end of this week as the deadline to finalize the transaction. GAIS may reconsider other options if there is no rapid progress from Al Ahly, including interest from Gulf clubs and RC Lens in recent months.
Negotiations, which appeared to be concluded four weeks ago, have been slowed by the Egyptian club, causing Diabaté's anger. Al Ahly organized a video conference meeting on November 30, 2025, with the GAIS sports director. The player's release price has increased from 1.2 million dollars to 2 million dollars, with a resale rate set at 10%. Al Ahly made a counter-proposal of a transfer at 1.5 million dollars, with 750,000 dollars at signing and a second payment before the end of March. The club also proposed to pay 2 million dollars in three installments (500,000 dollars at signing, 500,000 dollars in March, and 1 million dollars in September 2026), while canceling the 10% resale clause. The GAIS sports director asked for a delay to consult the club's management. The contractual agreement between Diabaté and Al Ahly remains unchanged, consisting of a four-and-a-half-year contract and a signing bonus of 900,000 dollars in the first season, with an annual increase of 100,000 dollars to reach 1.2 million dollars in the last year.
According to Aftonbladet, Ibrahim Diabate is the subject of transfer speculation, and Al Ahly is one of the clubs mentioned.
Exclusive sources for Africafoot report that Al Ahly has accelerated its efforts to complete the transfer of Ibrahim Diabaté. In recent hours, the Egyptian club sent a representative to meet the player and officials from GAIS to discuss the terms for purchasing the striker's contract. Al Ahly's initial offer was 1 million dollars (862,100 euros), while GAIS is demanding 1.5 million dollars (1.29 million euros) for the transfer. Negotiations are ongoing, and the deal could be finalized during the winter transfer window.
According to exclusive sources of Africafoot, negotiations have progressed between Al Ahly and GAIS for the transfer of Ibrahim Diabaté. The Egyptian club initially offered 800,000 dollars (688,080 euros) for the Ivorian striker, while GAIS is asking for 1.5 million dollars (1,290,150 euros) for his contract. Al Ahly subsequently adjusted its offer to 1 million dollars (860,100 euros), an amount that GAIS considers insufficient. According to sources, GAIS insists that the offer reach 1.5 million dollars, which could lead to tense negotiations. Al Ahly has also added a signing bonus of 500,000 dollars (430,050 euros), which is double Diabaté's current salary. The 25-year-old striker is reportedly now more inclined to join Al Ahly, particularly following the appointment of Jess Thorup as coach. The transfer remains uncertain.
According to exclusive sources from Africafoot, Al Ahly's management is in talks to sign Ibrahim Diabaté, a 25-year-old Ivorian striker who currently plays for the Swedish club GAIS. The Egyptian club is looking to strengthen its attack, partly as they seek a potential replacement for Wissam Abou Ali. Diabaté's strong performances as a forward in the Swedish league this season have attracted interest from several other European clubs. Initially, the player was not very interested in a move to Cairo, but his stance reportedly changed after the appointment of Danish coach Jes Thorup. He has since expressed a strong desire to join the Egyptian side. The same Africafoot sources state that Al Ahly has decided to proceed and is preparing an $800,000 offer for the striker. Diabaté's value is estimated by Transfermarkt at €1.2 million. He joined GAIS in January 2025 and his contract runs until the end of 2028. This potential transfer is part of Al Ahly's strategy to add quality players during the next winter window to cover for possible absences or departures in their offense.
