Ibrahim Buhari Transfer from Elfsborg to Austria Wien
Central defender Ibrahim Buhari has moved from the Swedish top-flight club Elfsborg to Austria Wien, where he has signed a contract until 2029. Austria's Sporting Director, Tomas Zorn, stated that the club deliberately chose the 24-year-old Nigerian after an intensive screening of the market. Zorn also explained that Buhari's athletic attributes and physique are an excellent match for their defensive needs, and that the transfer continues the club's strategy of consistently rejuvenating the squad. Buhari joined Elfsborg in September 2022 and made 61 appearances, scoring one goal in the Swedish Allsvenskan. He has one cap for the Nigeria U23 team, and his current market value is listed by Transfermarkt as €1.40m. Several English clubs, including Cardiff City, Portsmouth, and Lincoln City, had also been linked with the defender.
