Harry Boyes, a 24-year-old English left wing-back who joined Southend United in July 2025, has reportedly submitted a transfer request as he attempts to move to York City, a newly promoted League Two side. It is understood that Southend has rejected an initial offer from York. A report by Pete O’Rourke states that Boyes submitted the request following the approach from York, and also suggests that Southend wants Ben Brookes included in any potential agreement. The report adds that Alex Newby, another York player, is also attracting interest from the Essex club. Boyes is contracted until the summer of 2027, which leaves Southend in a strong negotiating position. Neither club has confirmed the transfer request. Southend manager Kieron Dyer stated that Boyes's recent absence from a friendly against Leyton Orient was due to a legitimate ankle problem and not the speculation. Dyer also rejected suggestions that the player's attitude had changed due to the proposed move.
