The intention of BlueCo, the consortium owned by the owners of Chelsea and investor of Strasbourg, is for Gonçalo Borges to spend one or more seasons in Ligue 1 to consolidate and then transfer to the London club in the future.

Chelsea, owned by the same consortium as Estrasburgo, may inject money into the transfer to ensure it happens. There is also a possibility that Chelsea could directly enter the negotiations to acquire Gonçalo Borges.
