Gianluca Prestianni Transfer from Benfica to River Plate
Benfica refused River Plate's offer for 19-year-old Argentine forward Gianluca Prestianni and ended any further negotiations. The proposal from the Buenos Aires club was for an €800,000 loan with a €4 million purchase option for 50% of the player's rights, which Benfica did not consider. The potential transfer has collapsed, a development that A BOLA had previously revealed on December 19. One of Gianluca Prestianni's representatives was pressuring Benfica to complete the transfer and admitted to close circles that he was attempting to force an exit. However, a transfer is not being considered by Benfica. The club invested €9.5 million, including intermediary fees, to sign the player, and his former club Vélez Sarsfield retains a 15% share of a future sale. Consequently, River Plate is now evaluating alternative targets. Prestianni, who joined Benfica in January 2024, has a contract with the club until 2029 and a current market value of €12.00m, according to Transfermarkt. He has one cap for Argentina and in the 2025/2026 Liga Portugal season has recorded 2 goals and 3 assists in 2 appearances.
