Gavin Bazunu is reportedly being considered by Celtic as Martin O'Neill looks to strengthen his goalkeeping options before the transfer deadline. The Scottish Sun reported that Bazunu previously had a trial with the club as a youngster.

According to The Echo's Alfie House, Celtic are interested in a move for goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu. Bazunu is lower in the pecking order on the South Coast under Eckert. Both Bazunu and Sugawara were absent from the squad that travelled to Watford last weekend, and exits for them in the coming days and weeks appear increasingly likely as Celtic are interested in them. At Southampton, Peretz and Long are ranked higher than Bazunu in the pecking order, and Aaron Ramsdale is also still at the club. Eckert wants to make a deal with Celtic to permanently transfer both players, as neither are in the first-team plans.

Celtic are considering a transfer for Gavin Bazunu, a 24-year-old Irish international goalkeeper who plays for Southampton, as Southampton wants to sell the player after signing Daniel Peretz as their first-choice goalkeeper for the summer. Celtic could propose a transfer for two players that also includes full-back Yukinara Sugawara, to persuade Southampton, as the club wishes to reduce its wage expenses by selling both players due to a decrease in their parachute payments this term. Bazunu has 22 caps for his country, is under contract until 2027, and has a current market value of €8.00m according to Transfermarkt. According to reports from August 2026, Southampton's asking price was approximately £7 million. Dinamo Zagreb have also been linked with the player.
