Santos and Racing are negotiating an exchange involving defender Adonis Frías and 26-year-old Uruguayan right-back Gastón Martirena. The talks concern a one-season loan with a purchase option, and the clubs are optimistic about reaching an agreement in the coming days. Racing's search for a defender was initiated due to a long-term injury to Marco Di Cesare, a development that was initially reported by UOL and confirmed by ESPN. Santos is currently under a FIFA transfer ban but anticipates the restriction will be lifted shortly, which would allow them to register new players. According to Transfermarkt, Martirena has a current market value of €4.00m, and he has also been linked with CSKA Moskva. Racing reportedly rejected an offer of approximately €8.3 million from Zenit Saint Petersburg for the player in December 2024. Racing signed him for €2.4 million in July 2023.
