Following some negotiations, Uruguayan defender Gastón Martirena is set to leave Racing and will play for Nacional of Uruguay on loan. Racing accepted Nacional's proposal to loan the 26-year-old until December 2027 for a $300,000 fee, which includes a purchase option for an undisclosed amount. The club had initially rejected the offer because it intended to sell the player, who was no longer a regular member of the team. During the previous transfer window, CSKA Moscow had shown interest, but the management under Diego Milito did not agree to a sale. Martirena also nearly moved to Santos as part of a deal for Adonis Frías, who ultimately signed with Atlas of Mexico. Martirena joined Racing in July 2023. According to Transfermarkt, his current market value is €4.00m. In the 2025/2026 season, he has made nine appearances in domestic competitions with no goals or assists.
