Sampdoria is monitoring the January market for midfield reinforcements, and 28-year-old Italian central midfielder Gaetano Castrovilli is a player of interest. The midfielder, who is currently at Bari after joining in the summer, has been proposed to the club. However, Castrovilli is currently out with a muscle injury that is expected to keep him out for at least a month, a factor which is affecting evaluations of the potential transfer. According to Il Secolo XIX, the transfer is complicated as the player is reportedly not yet fully convinced about the destination. Sampdoria is waiting to see if conditions will allow for the negotiations to proceed. Castrovilli's contract expires in June 2026 and he has been capped four times for Italy. In the current Serie B season, he has made 17 appearances, scoring one goal. His Transfermarkt valuation is currently €750k.
